The Dodecagon Series designed by Jim Wurth

This is another series that I thought would be useful to be able to see them all in one place.

The Dodecagon Series consists of twelve 12-sided designs each five inches in diameter and all uniformly shaped that were created by Jim Wurth of Wurthwhile Stitching.

Like I have done for such similar group postings before, there will be a link under each photograph so that if you are interested in reading more about one individual ornament and/or see additional photos, all you have to do is click on the link under each individual photo and it will bring you to the original posting.

Since I know how well these ornaments have been popular I am including herewith all the necessary information so that if you are interested in stitching them, you will know who to contact.

(Before I go any further I would like to mention that I have absolutely no vested interest in this designer or any other designers mentioned on my blog - I only do this in order to help both designers and stitchers)

Jim Wurth email address is as follows and he can be contacted at this address: JWurth@msn.com
Jim has a Yahoo group that has been created expressly for the Dodecagon Ornament Series and Jim is there to answer questions, but this is not an online class. Link for Jim's Dodecagon Ornament Series Yahoo group is here

Now for those of you who are wondering where these ornaments are being sold, here is a bit of information for you all.

There is one needlepoint shop that exclusively sells these designs and it is Threadneedle Street located in California and here are the contact details in case some of you might be interested:

Comments: This is the last one of the Dodecagon Series but not the least. It is absolutely beautiful.

As I have said before, I am not the kind of person who will sign up for series, any series, never had done so before Jim came up with this Dodecagon series ornaments, and mostly when I can't see them all beforehand as the question is for me, will I like them or not?

With this series I could see 3 out of the 12 in an advertisement that Jim had made in the magazine NeedlePoint Now. When I saw them, I stopped dead in my tracks as I felt the designs were just so special, but I did not do anything about it for a long while. It actually took me months before I finally made the decision, with my husband's input, to register for the whole series, as I felt it was a big investment in both time and money.

I am happy to say that I have  never  regretted that decision as it has been a wonderful stitching journey for me. I can now do Jessicas with my eyes closed (grinning). Does that mean that I will register for other series in the future? Not necessarily so, unless something this special comes along again.

Comments: We are getting close to the end of this dodecagon series. Only one more remains to be added to my blog. Yesterday was Easter and today it is starting to look like Christmas but only for one day. Perhaps tomorrow we can have Halloween (smiling).

Comments: This is another one of the Dodecagon Series ornaments that I have truly enjoyed stitching and with this one I took more photographs than I normally did with the previous ones.

Jim gives very good visuals in his instructions for all stitches to be performed, but if you are like me and want to know more about those particular stitches and much much more, there are a few Jean Hilton's books that I would highly recommend. Two of them are listed below with links where they can be purchased. You can also see other books and designs from Jean Hilton on this website. Stitches from the Heart is also a great shop to do business with.

(Mistake stitch which you can read more about in Jean Hilton's Needlepoint Stitches book, pages 10 and 11)

(A little bit more done on the center section - just love those colors)

Comments: This is another lovely design from the Dodecagon series using very pastel colors this time around, so pretty like the previous ones.

Each time that a box came from Jim, I always rushed to open it right away in order to find out what colors and design I would be surprised with.

Jim's instructions are always very clear and there are lots of them with graphs on every page making it very easy to stitch each ornament. They were also relatively quick stitch due to their size.

Jim's Yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DodecagonSeriesOrnaments/

Comments: There are only two ornaments in this series that have a similar feel to them. This one called "Monrovia" and the other one is called "Arcadia". The colors used are mainly metallic gold and silver with some white.

The outline of all these ornaments is exactly the same and uses exactly the same stitches but different colors and threads.

They are called "Dodecagon" as each ornament has 12 sides and all are 5 inches in diameter.

Comments: When I first saw this series of ornaments, I thought they were so well designed that I just
could not say "no" to them. I had to think hard though before investing time and money
as this series contains 12 ornaments and I had never signed up for any series before
as I love to work on different kind of projects.
