Comments: WORK IN PROGRESS

This is another project that I have started but not yet completed. The fun part is yet to be done, meaning the flowers. I really need to take some time in 2011 to finish this project.

Blackeyed Susans: Esther Begleiter, designer

Project: Blackeyed Susans

Designer: Esther Begleiter
(Stitch Arts, Inc.)

Type of needlework: Brazilian Embroidery

Photos: 2

Comments: This is a little design I stitched years ago when I wanted to learn how to do Brazilian embroidery. I just love Blakeyed Susans. Have had some in my garden for years now and looking out the window I can see them in full bloom from my stitching/computer room upstairs. What a lovely sight.

Below is a photo showing three Brazilian embroidery projects I have stitched and finished as ornaments.

Here are the links for Rhapsody and Minuet.

Stitching Accessories Trio in Brazilian embroidery

Project: Stitching Accessories Trio

Designer: Created by my friend Terry as a gift for me

Type of needlework: Brazilian embroidery

Photo: 4

Comments: My friend Terry created this little trio (needlecase, pincushion and scissor fob) as a gift for me for a special occasion like a past birthday or Christmas. I can't recall exactly as we have been exchanging gifts for years.

To make the trio, she used some silk dupioni fabric with some Edmar threads. She then outlined the letter "P" on the needlecase, a circle on the pincushion and stitched everything in Brazilian embroidery. The little scissor fob has a different flower on both sides.

Blackberry Lane website: http://www.blackberrylane.com.au/

Comments: I love Autumn and the colors associated with that season, so when I saw this design, I wanted to stitch it. The design came already printed on the fabric with complete instructions. You can also find this design and all the necessary threads at JDR in the USA.

Candle Christmas ornament

Project: Candle Christmas ornament

Designer: Elsie Ottinger

Type of needlework: Brazilian embroidery

Photo: 1

Website showing Edmar threads used for this project

Comments: I used to belong to a Yahoo group where Elsie was helping stitchers to learn how to do Brazilian embroidery and she created a few designs that she generously shared with us all as members of her group.

This is actually my very first try at Brazilian embroidery. I have stitched others since then which I will be posting later.

I have also two Brazilian embroidery UFOs which I intent to finish in the coming months and I will be adding them to my blog upon their completion.

Free projects here

Brazilian Dimensional Embroidery International Guild: http://www.brazilian-dimensional-embroidery.org/

Comments: This is the second of the free projects that I tried at the time and also finished it as a little ornament. Not much I could think of doing with it once stitched as it is rather small but seems ideal as ornaments.

I have a couple of Brazilian embroidery projects in my UFO pile, so if I am consistent with my goal of finishing lots of UFOs, then they should be completed sometimes this year, perhaps sooner than expected as I may even surprise myself.

Free designs here  from the Brazilian Dimensional Embroidery Guild

Comments: Don't you all just love the dimensional aspect of brazilian embroidery? It is just so pretty and elegant. On the guild website they keep adding some new projects that we can all try. Of course we need to purchase the Edmar threads, which are the threads used when doing BE. I decided to finish mine as a little ornament and I put it on my Christmas tree each year. During the rest of the year I normally just hang it on my wall with others I have made through the years.
